The learning outcomes developed by the Department of History faculty are organized around four general goals which the department has set for its students:

  • General knowledge of history
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific research methodology
  • The ability to create evidence-based arguments
  • The ability to think abstractly

Moreover, the list of outcomes includes specific items for different levels of courses and students, from freshman and sophomore-level surveys to upper division seminars to graduate courses.
